e-folio - FAQs

Is e-folio easy to operate?
Yes. No special skills are needed to enter data, import evidence, cross-reference and assess evidence or verify the process (other than being a competent assessor/verifier!).

What are the main benefits of using e-folio?
e-folio will enable your organisation to record, store, assess and verify evidence for S/NVQ qualifications. Users report that by doing this electronically and holding information in one place, they have minimised the repetition of tasks, reduce paperwork and save time. The reduction in assessment time leads to candidate retention and potential improvements in achievement rates. There is also the added bonus of developing the IT skills of those involved in using e-folio.

What sort of evidence can e-folio store?
e-folio can store diverse types of evidence imported from a variety of sources: scanner, video
digital camera, audio, word-processed documents, spreadsheets, Powerpoint, etc. This means that candidates with special requirements are not at a disadvantage, as different media can be used to record their evidence. The use of peripherals is not compulsory but optional.

Can e-folio cope with a range of Awards?
Yes! The range of awards is growing all the time. Please contact us for details.

Who uses e-folio?
e-folio is used by a wide range of organisations across the UK including National Health Services, Workforce Confederations, Colleges, Social Services, Local Authorities, Charities, Training Providers, Industrial and Commercial Organisations.

What training is available?
e-folio is so easy to use that only basic operating competence is needed. For 'advisors' this is achieved through on-site training and the completion of a distance-learning program. 'Advisors' will have the benefit of a hands-on ½ day training session in the use of the e-folio system, they can then complete the accreditation program in their own place at their own pace. On request a further ½ day training/support session follows accreditation.

Does e-folio link to CATS?
Yes. e-folio has links to CATS (Candidate Achievement Tracking System) to ensure efficient tracking and reporting on all aspects of the assessment process.

Is there a cost to adding candidate records to e-folio?
No. Users can add any number of candidate records at no extra cost.

What about upgrades?
Updates are improvements to existing versions and are free to users who are entitled to support.

Are there any ongoing costs?
Extended support following initial 15 months – see Training and Support section.
Awards – any additional awards after installation of ‘live’ system. Contact us for details: info@gizware.com

What does e-folio cost?
That depends on the number of users. 2 ‘advisors’ (2 e-folio systems installed) starts from just £3600.
